The River Akagera which transforms into the Nile originates in the vicinity of this big park. This is perfect game watching territory, Pockets of Savannah, acacia woodland, mingling with open grassland.
Scenery is one that is rustic and characteristic of that traversing the Tanzanian northern western border.   Giant crocs populate here, Hippo, herds of Buffalo, Giraffe, spotted hyena, Zebra, Cape Eland, and other antelope types call this home. The pre-historic shoe bill stork can also be found here and a host of other dry and wet water birds.
