Anyone who has been to Zanzibar can attest to 20,000 years of foreign occupation of the Island, it was the African centre piece in the greater Arabian and Indian trade hemispheres. Here garrisons were built and the first Mosque in the southern hemisphere erected by the Arabs.

For reasons of stated positioning this island was a point of various forceful acquisitions as it fell to various foreign powers. When exploration and discovery was in full force, the Portuguese run it for a long 200 years, by 1698 it had fallen to the Sultanate of Oman and here thrived the trade of cash crops like spices and moniker. Ivory and slaves from the interior changed hands here so to say fuelling the triangular trade for a very long time.

Zanj could be taken to show the demarcations of this trading block which stretched to the Congo River. Sudden reincarnation of the slave abolitionist movement brought this area under British control and any differences with the sitting Germany administrators were easily harmonized by 1890.The protectorate of Zanzibar arose but was without problems and for that reason the Anglo-Zanzibar war was imminent, through diplomatic endeavors the shortest confrontation in military history was however quelled. A Sudden institution of a monarchy followed by a genocide in 1963, countless Arabs and Indians flew and the island merged with Tanganyika in semi autonomous present day Zanzibar forming Tanzania.

Zanzibar is synonymous with Romance, serenity, tourism, slave history.
