The Momella Lake supports pink flamingos, migrant waterfowl and shaggy waterbucks other natives are Zebras, Dikdik and giraffes. Leopards and hyenas are not rare but park is devoid of Lions and scanty elephant populations. Primate species include black and white monkey, blue monkeys .The vegetation of montane forests on Mt.meru ascent where buffaloes and Giraffes thrive is striking. Mt Meru can be less challenging to climb than Kilimanjaro.
