NGORONGORO CRATER

The most visited destinations and Africa’s best wildlife viewing areas, spanning 20km wide its also the largest Calderas in the world, its steep unbroken walls provide the setting for an incredible natural Drama ,as Lions ,Buffaloes, Elephants and plain herbivores such as Thomson’s gazelles, Reedbucks, wildebeest and Zebras graze, stalk and otherwise make their way around the grassland, swamps and Forests on the crater floor, and chances are good that you will also be able to see the black Rhino. Despite the craters steepness, there is still considerable movement of wildlife in and out, with the permanent water and Grassland on the crater floor. Animals and birds share the crater with the local Masaai communities who have grazing rights, and you will come across them pasturing their cattle. The best time to have the best view in the crater is early in the morning, where you can get a good sighting point, and let the crater’s environment come to you.
