Home Tanzania National parks & Sanctuaries Ruaha National Park
RUAHA NATIONAL PARK

Ruaha national park is synonymous to Ruaha River, a great river flooding the vast plains at the height of the rains, a shot in the arm for dwindling flora and fauna stocks after a dry spell. Visitors will be awed right before disembarking on their flight here, Zebras, Giraffes grace the air strip area. Ruaha’s rugged terrain is characteristic of central Tanzania, doted with Baobab trees, acacia savannah sliding into the Miombo woodland; you are in classic semi desert country. The biggest flock of tuskies in East Africa is grazed here, likewise the park is not devoid of  birds, an equally important count of up to 450 endemics are natives here. Herds of Zebra, Impala, waterbucks, Antelopes, Grant’s gazelle, lesser kudu among others help sustain an army of predators who call this home. Prides of lions, cheetahs, Leopards, spotted hyenas and Wild dogs stalk, chase, miss or even land some of these herbivores for lunch break. The park is generously supplied with road to explore the deepest seasonal tributaries; here herbivores risk crossing predator paths to satisfy the thirsty souls.
