| TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK |
|
It’s a four hour’s drive from Arusha, here a test of how changes in adverse weather conditions can be so punishing, given their adaptations animals here find a way to prevail in the dry season when the park is given a thorough baking. Soon arrive the rains to allow for the ground veins to exude with life almost chocking this sanctuary for many thirsty nomads wonder here with certainty of water arrivals .The only natives to stomach such punishing episodes are the herds of elephant which linger on whatever the spell, they have come round the problem but scanning for underground streams. Most individuals here are migratory and infact this park has the biggest concentration of game outside the Serengeti which include the stately fringe eared oryx, buffaloes, impalas, Gazelles, hartebeest, wild beest among others. Tree climbing lions and pythons seen with increased frequency. What separates Tarangire from the pack is it boasts of the world’s largest bird; the stocking thighed ostrich, the kori bustard which is the world’s largest flying bird. Here activities like walking safaris, day trips to Masaai villages plus hundreds of rock paintings near Kolo. What to do: Guided walking safaris, Game drives When to go: Jun Sept is fine |
