Not much has changed in the way administration of the Kingdom has been handled for a hefty 1000 years of its existence. Numerous works on this powerful ancient kingdom are on sale widely in book houses in Kampala.

Outside Kampala is Uganda Martyrs shrine, scene where first Christian martyrs were burnt alive for having converted to Christianity from the traditional beliefs of the time on King Mwanga’s orders. Visit the Bahai temple standing in Kikaya and the only temple of its kind in Africa. Many leisure spots are readily available even in the Old capital of Entebbe and easily accessible at all time by road. Kampala is also home to East and Central Africa’s oldest Makerere University.

The Entebbe botanical gardens with its many plant species can be visited while in a walking distance is the Entebbe Zoo, sanctuary to many varying species of animals and birds but also some of the dangerous constrictors in this country (rock python) can be seen. Kampala is a multicultural melting pot, one can tell from the languages food and social gatherings. The national and official language is English a preserve of the learned but it’s also done somewhat well by unschooled. Swahili is dominating in some communities.
