The numerous water bodies that populate this country, a quarter or so of Uganda’s land mass is water, this gives immense opportunities in water sports. In mountain Elgon national park are the Sipi falls and catchments areas, an Anglers destination fly fish. Angling enthusiasts can take part in the Murchison falls international invitational fishing tournament, its part of the international sport fishing calendar and these; qualification stages. Fishing sports can also be done on lakes Victoria, Kyoga, Albert, Edward, George and the marine rich species of kazinga channel. Lake Bunyonyi known for its water birds and dense populations of otters, littered with a web of wetland destinations with its steep sided slopes dotted with rustic hotels and campsites is a must visit. Clusters of hundreds of crater lakes and several dozen Islands, the scenery mingled with the local summarizes what virgin territory is all about, come, mix with nature lovers and fish, don’t be told. This trip is also a fulfilled avian viewing experience. Fishing in the world’s second biggest fresh water Lake Victoria must be something to remember, most especially after which one retreats to the sandy beaches of Ssese Island Archipelago (islands of the God’s as they are locally referred to), Nile perch measuring up to a 100kg, Tilapia and other extinct varieties will be bagged.
